Israel takes an integral part in the international efforts to combat the global plague of drugs. As the leading national body charged with leading these efforts, the Israel Anti-Drug Authority must carefully review the various professional paradigms and best practices in the field in order to identify and adopt the best alternatives to combat this plague.
The fact that the plague of drugs is common to all members of the international community, facilitates international cooperation with other countries and organizations - including countries with whom relations might be problematic regarding other issues. The common goal of the international community to successfully cope with this plague turns everyone into natural partners, with common interests.
Israel is a signatory to three international conventions concerning drugs: "The Narcotic Drugs Convention, 1961"' "A Convention on Psychotropic Substances, 1971"; and the "United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, 1988".
